Smithfield Update
Hello Tennis and Pickleball friends!! We have been updating you frequently on this website but have more exciting news to share!!
We are very close to opening the doors to this state-of-the-art Tennis and Pickleball center and have some details we wanted to share with you, as you have been there supporting us over the past year while we’ve worked to get ready for our Limited Opening.
Originally, we had hoped to open in June, but because of the challenges with supply chain and worker shortages we experienced timeline setbacks, as did many who were under construction this past year. Getting this facility up and running has been our #1 goal and top priority. Depending on material supplies and current construction, we MAY be able to partially open in 2 phases, with the first phase being October 10th, and the second phase being toward the end of the month. This Limited opening would include some or possibly all the pickleball courts being usable, with some of the tennis courts being available for lessons only.
We will be offering more playing options, such as leagues and specific STPC season court times once we officially open and have an adequate active membership base. To help facilitate these goals and for people to see what stage the Center is in, we will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, October 15th, from 10am-1pm. Potential members can come in and view the facility, meet with staff, and discuss playing opportunities for both tennis and pickleball. We will assess potential league options and people will be able to secure any season court times they may want for their groups.
As we get closer to opening, we have added membership & court pricing to the website on the "Memberships" page. Please wait to purchase any memberships until we have an official limited opening date. If you choose to purchase a Membership before that, you may end up paying for dates that we are not open!
We are very excited and grateful for all your support over the past year and look forward to seeing you all in the new facility!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at Info@SmithfieldTPC.com or Lessons@SmithfieldTPC.com
Thanks so much,

Smithfield Update
The first coat of paint is down on the Pickleball courts. You can see what the new colors will look like in the gallery. The building painters are done with courts 2-6. The new HVAC system has been hooked up to the natural gas line. Duct work and final hook up should take place in the next week. Prep work has begun on tennis courts 3 & 4 to get them ready for their resurfacing.

Smithfield Update
The new lights are installed on the Pickleball courts. The building painters are done with courts 3-6. The net post sleeves have been set for the PB courts. The court resurfacer has the first layer of patch down on the new Pickleball courts. The new HVAC system has been set into place on their outdoor pads. Duct work and final hook up should take place in the next 1-2 weeks. 1/2 of the roof has been resealed and by the end of next week we will have posted our Membership and Court rental costs. We are still cautiously optimistic that parts of the Center will be ready to reopen around the beginning of October!

Smithfield Update
The electricians are installing the new lights on the Pickleball courts, with completion of that hopefully by Wednesday the 6th. The painters are nearly done with courts 4-6. The net post sleeves have been set for the PB courts. The temporary wall between courts 2 & 3 will be removed the week of the 5th, and with that we will be closing our temporary Pickleball courts so that the painters and resurfacer can begin their work. We hope to have the new HVAC system in place by the week of September 19th. In the next couple of weeks we will have more information on our Membership and court rental costs. Our goal is to have the facility ready to reopen at the beginning of October!
Thank You,

Smithfield Update
Great News! The HVAC will be installed sometime in next few weeks. The painters will be done with the back half of the building by early next week, then they will move to the roof to seal coat, and the temporary wall between courts 2 & 3 will be removed. The electricians will begin installing the new lights for courts 5 & 6 next week. With any luck we can begin the process to resurface the court playing areas in the next couple of weeks which could take up to three weeks. Then we will need to install the new backdrop curtains and divider nets. Lastly we will install the cameras on the courts for the monitors in the lobby. It is our goal to have finalized the Membership rates and Court costs by mid September. We are still optimistic that October 1st will be our reopening date. Thank you for your patience!

Smithfield Update
The building is now completely closed in. All the side walls have been completely replaced. The large temporary wall between courts 4 & 5 has been taken down. The Painters are to begin painting the entire court area beginning next week. The roof will be patched and seal coated in the upcoming weeks. Our new lights for courts 5 & 6 are expected soon. Unfortunately the HVAC has been delayed until the end of August. With each passing day the center is looking less like a rebuild and more like the first class tennis and pickleball center it will become!
Check out the pictures in our gallery to see the improvements!

Smithfield Update
The reconstruction is well underway. Even though there have been setbacks with getting materials and the weather, we have a roof on an entirety of the building now. The side walls are in the beginning phases of being replaced. Most of the old HVAC systems have been removed. The painters are scheduled to start their interior building painting in mid to late July with an expected timeline of a month. The new HVAC units are expected to arrive late August. The court resurfacing will begin after the interior painting is completed. The front of the building and the lobby and locker rooms are 85% finished. As you can imagine this has been a huge undertaking and given the uncertain climate regarding materials and labor shortages, we still don’t have a definite reopen date. Once we set that date, we will reach out to all the people that we have contact information for and announce our official grand reopening! You can check the gallery page of our website to see pictures of the construction.
Tennis Racquet Stringing is now available at Smithfield TPC.
We have many of the most popular strings including Babolat, Head, Solinco and many others. We should be able to get your racquets done within a few days. If you need your racquet restrung contact Jeremy at Lessons@SmithfieldTPC.com he can schedule a drop off time and a pick date. Unfortunately, at this time we only accept cash or check, so please make your checks out to Smithfield TPC.

ANNOUNCING NEW HEAD PROFESSIONAL JEREMY ELLERBY
Smithfield Tennis and Pickleball Center is proud to announce the appointment of Jeremy Ellerby as its first Head Professional. Although Jeremy got a late start into the tennis world at the age of 14, it didn’t take long for his love of the sport to grow. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jeremy attended Marion High School and graduated in 2014. Through his high school years, he attended lessons and clinics at Westfield Tennis Club, which is now Smithfield Tennis and Pickleball Center. He then attended Wartburg College and got his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Science. Jeremy played four years of varsity tennis at Wartburg and graduated in 2018. After college, he was a teaching professional at Elmcrest Country Club where he taught for five years. During that time, Jeremy’s passion and love for the sport only grew stronger, as he went on to become a United States Professional Tennis Association certified professional. As the first Head Professional at Smithfield Tennis & Pickleball Center, Jeremy is excited to introduce his students to what will soon be the premiere, brand-new, state-of-the-art tennis & pickleball facility in Iowa. Jeremy aims to grow the programs and provide an energetic and inclusive environment for players of all skill levels. In his role as Head Professional, Jeremy will oversee the direction of all tennis and pickleball private and group lessons. He is excited to create a robust, vibrant, welcoming and fun place for our members to learn and improve their games. He can’t wait to meet all our members and begin to forge long-lasting positive relationships with all of you! If you would like to contact Jeremy, he can be reached at Lessons@SmithfieldTPC.com.

A quick update on the rebuilding of Smithfield Tennis and Pickleball Center (formerly Westfield Tennis Club). We have repainted the entire lobby, and the Men’s and Women’s locker rooms. Both restrooms are also getting new vanities and flooring. The upstairs offices and viewing area will also receive new flooring. The materials to replace the court walls and rebuild the end of the building have been ordered and we are hopeful of getting those materials sometime this spring. Once the shell of the building is put back into place, we can add the new HVAC system, get all the court areas painted, and then we will be able to resurface the 4 tennis courts and the 6 new dedicated pickleball courts. The front entrance of the building will also be repainted, landscaped, and upgraded in the spring. We look forward to the rebirth of this great new facility and we will give you a more definitive timeline when our official grand reopening date is available.

10 Visit punch cards will be available for $35.00.

Good News Tennis and Pickleball Enthusiasts!
As many of you know, we have been operating the club on a limited basis for the month of November while we figured out the extent of the damage and what repairs to make. We are happy to inform you that the plan is to bring back the entire building. We will be replacing the damaged roof, sidewalls, and HVAC systems. We will also remodel the locker rooms, repaint the court surfaces and refresh the entire facility. The goal is to offer the community indoor pickleball and tennis on a year-round basis. We have made temporary repairs that will allow play this winter with six pickleball courts. The long-term plan is to have at least 6 dedicated pickleball courts and 4 indoor tennis courts. As you can appreciate, the construction timeline is somewhat fluid, but we are hopeful to have the entire facility up and running by the end of summer.
In an attempt to cover some of the fixed costs, we are instituting an interim pricing plan that will run until the building is fully functional. If you wish to come to one of the designated open play times on the Playtimescheduler.com website, you may do so for a
fee of $5.00 ($4.67 + $.33 tax) per visit.
We appreciate your patience during this interim period. We look forward to providing the community a facility that we can all be proud of. In the meantime as we build this website it will be the first source of information regarding our reopening timelines and news! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact usat SmithfieldTPC@gmail.com. In the meantime we will use
this website as source of all new information
